The Last Lantern

The sea is forgetting the world. One town is still lit. Every choice your table makes becomes canon — for everyone who comes after.

The shared chronicle

A world that keeps its promises.

Vigil has been played for forty-seven turnings. The people who sat here before you are not a marketing line. They are the reason the sea-gate is barricaded, the archive is missing its founding page, and the boy on the shore is still waiting.

Names change. The consequences do not.

How it plays

Four minutes.
One turning.

No lobbies. No character sheet. No one shouting over you. Just a table, three roads, and a world that will remember which one you took.

01

Take a seat

Choose a name and a role. Step into the public world of Vigil, already forty-seven turnings old, or open a private table for your own circle.

02

Make one choice

The table is shown three roads. Mara argues for one. Enna for another. Your vote carries the Lantern's weight; the circle's dissent becomes part of what happens next.

Live with it

The outcome is written to the chronicle. The Keeper remembers. The town's stats shift, a character changes their mind, and the next turning begins somewhere slightly worse — or better.

PermanentFor this world

The Keeper

An AI narrator with a memory.

The Keeper is not a chatbot bolted onto a story. It holds the whole chronicle: who you burned, what the town forgot, which promise is still owed. It can improvise a character's answer, a private scene, or the shape of an ending — without losing the thread.

01

Continuity over volume. Better models mean deeper callbacks, not more content to scroll past.

02

Canon stays human. Turnings are authored and player-approved. The Keeper improvises around the decisions.

03

Costs stay bounded. Bounded Keeper calls, cached consequences, no infinite generation loop.

Why this can work

People do not pay for “AI stories.” They pay to belong to this world, with these people, and this accumulated history. The Keeper is how we make that history feel alive — not the product itself.

Cycle 48 is open

The tide is at the gate.
